The story of Oud Beersel
Oud Beersel was founded in Beersel in 1882 by Henri Vandervelden and stayed in the family for four generations. Brewing stopped in 2002 and the geuze looked lost, until Gert Christiaens took it on in 2005, restarted production and kept the original coolship and oak foeders in use.
It is one of the last authentic lambic breweries in Belgium, and its revival in 2005 rescued a house that had already stopped brewing.
