The story of van Hoegaarden

The village of Hoegaarden brewed witbier for centuries until the last witbier brewery closed in 1957. Pierre Celis revived the style in 1966, and Hoegaarden white sparked a global witbier renaissance.

Belgian witbier had effectively gone extinct before Pierre Celis brought it back in Hoegaarden in 1966.
