The story of de l'Abbaye des Rocs
Founded in 1979 at Montignies-sur-Roc, in the far south of Hainaut near the French border, and built on a refusal to use added sugar. The beers are pure malt, brewed with an unusually large bill of specialty malts, which gives them a density most Belgian dark strong ales do not have.
No added sugar at nine percent is rare in Belgium, where candi sugar is the usual way to reach that strength without heaviness.
