Brasserie à Vapeur
Rue de Maréchal 1, 7904 Pipaix (Leuze-en-Hainaut)
The last working steam-powered brewery in Belgium, on machinery dating to 1785, home of the spicy Saison de Pipaix.
The story of à Vapeur
Brasserie a Vapeur in Pipaix is the last steam-powered brewery in Belgium, reviving a site whose brewing dates to 1785. Jean-Louis Dits and Anne-Marie Lemaire took it over in 1984 and kept the 19th-century steam machinery running.
The brewery's old steam engine still drives the mill and pumps, the only one of its kind left working in Belgium.
