Grimbergen (Alken-Maes) • Flemish Brabant Belgium
The golden tripel of the Grimbergen abbey range, bearing the Norbertine phoenix. Its characteristic spiciness comes from blonde candi sugar and a subtle mix of soft and bitter hops, balanced by a smooth malt body.
Bright, golden and spicy, with notes of spicy, citrus, pear, finishing rich and sweet.
Serve at 8-12°C in a tulip to maintain a generous head and let the aromas bloom.

Can age. Will soften and gain a honeyed depth, though it is lovely fresh too.
"Pairs with roast chicken, a washed-rind cheese, or herbed pork; the carbonation keeps richer dishes lively."
Cook this: a wedge of aged abbey cheese (Chimay, Orval), vol-au-vent (chicken in puff pastry), or roast pork with grain mustard.

The golden tripel of the Grimbergen abbey range, brewed under licence by Alken-Maes and bearing the Norbertine phoenix and the abbey motto 'Ardet nec consumitur', burnt but not destroyed. Its spiciness comes from blonde candi sugar and a measured blend of soft and bitter hops, completing a range that already held the Blonde and the dark Double.
On the Tripel style, Strong, golden-colored ale. Complex spiciness, fruity esters (banana, orange), and a sweet malt backbone masked by high carbonation and a dry finish.

Pour it into a tulip, served around 8-12°C, and let its aromatics open before the first sip. Lovely now, though a year or two will only soften and deepen it.
